親爱的中山大學美東校友會校友們:

我（周秉流副會長）和高雯會長及劉宏理事一起在此文宣中 向全體校友發出呼籲:
請火速慷慨解囊救助祖國青海省玉树藏族自治州遭受7.2级大地震災害的苦难同胞們.
We are calling to you for your generous donation to the victims of the Qinghai-Yushu Earthquake in China.
由於.4.14.早上一場突然發生的大地震,因為震央在地面的淺表層,給青海玉树县結古鎮藏族同胞帶來摧毀性的災難.目下所知是近1,706人死亡,312人失蹤，12,088人受傷,99%的房屋倒塌.我們可以從各种傳媒報导中知道,受災的同胞(尤其是兒童)是在天寒地凍的環境裏掙扎求生,他們正在遭受断粮断水,缺醫少住的苦难深淵中;在這災难的現场,我們看到人們無助的眼神,失去親人的哀痛;餘震的不断,威脅著生命;天寒地凍,只能聚在操場,连禦寒的棉被也沒有，靠蓋塑料薄膜禦寒。此情此景,真令人為之灑一掬同情之淚!
On the morning of Wednesday, 14 April 2010, a strong earthquake (7.2 degree on the Richter Scale) hit in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, P. R. China, destroying 99% of the houses and building there, killing over 1,484 people and injuring more than 12,088, with 312 still missing. The survivors, including thousands of young children, are struggling in miserable conditions: living without shelter day and night in bitter cold on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, with no food, water , blanket, and medicine. Their situation is far worse than that in the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008.
我每天在追看這災难的新聞,往往是淚盈於睫,看到傷心处,淚水已止不住流滿面頰! 我想,惻隱之心,人皆有之! 況我中華民族,向以仁義同情心作為做人之本,一方有難,八方支持,這是人類人性之本,我們要本著 "人溺己溺"的心去支持和救援他們.
Watching on television reports on this disaster and the miserable situation of the survivors (most of which are ethnic Tibetans), we could not hold back our tears. We Chinese are a people with a kind heart and a long tradition of helping the poor and the needy. This time, we cannot sit still and we must extend our helping hand to the victims.
我們在9.11.災难,在南亞海嘯,在新奧爾良風水災,華東水災,汶川大地震,海地大地震,台湾八八風水災等全球各地發生的災害中曾經踴躍捐款,救助受災的人.我們也曾帮助过不幸墜樓身亡的蔡维星校友的貧困家人以及被兇手槍傷的陳立橋校友,使他們渡过難關.這次，我相信我們的校友也會热心慷慨解囊,以濟青海地震災民的燃眉之急
The SYSUAA and its alumni have always been active in disaster relief efforts and in helping fellow alumni in need. We made donations to the victims of disasters such as the “September 11 Terrorist Attack”(2001), the Southeast Asia Tsunami (2004), the New Orleans Flood, the Flood in Eastern China, the Wenchuan Earthquake in China (2008), the Hurricane and Flood in Taiwan (2009),the Haiti Earthquake (2010), and we have also donated to alumni or their families which were in difficulty: to the family of the late Dr. Cai Wei-xing, who died in an accidental fall from the second floor of a building, and to Dr. Chen Li-qiao, who was shot in the leg by a violent attacker.
This time, we believe that our alumni will again generously donate to the victims of the Qinghai Earthquake to help them tide over their difficulty and miserable situations.
迄今為止，高雯會長（網站捐款），周秉流副會長（支票），劉宏理事（支票）已經每人捐獻了$100。希望我們的帶頭行動會起到拋磚引玉的作用, 帶動廣大校友踴躍為慘遭不幸的青海地震災民捐款。
We three have taken the initiative of making the first donation in SUSYAA of $100 per person by Paypal or by check. We hope that more SYSYAA board members and alumni will follow.
在此，我們熱烈呼籲各位校友大力表達善心，積極捐款，款數不限，$5, $10, $20, $40, $60, $100, $200, 或更多，皆可，以表達我們中山大學旅美校友對大陸受災同胞的愛心和善心，并有力地表示：漢族藏族，所有民族都是一家人。
We call for all alumni and their families to take an active part in this donation drive. You can donate any amount, according to your financial condition and your preference: $5, %10, $20, $40, $60, $100, $200, or more, any amount is welcome. The most important point is our participation and the demonstration of our kindness and warm heart towards the victims of this earthquake. This donation is also a strong indication that all Chinese, Han or Tibetan, are all in one family and all care about each other.

捐款的校友我們將會向全體校友公佈.
The SYSUAA board will hand deliver the total sum of the donations to the Consulate General of the P.R.China in New York to be forwarded to the Red Cross of the P.R.China.
